Bungalow Renovation | Houston, Texas
The structure for this classic 1920s Houston bungalow was mostly intact but in poor condition. To modernize its small spaces, Stern and Bucek removed a wall between the kitchen and dining room to form a consolidated open plan for the new kitchen and family room that is more responsive to modern contemporary living. Other areas of the house were restored, bathrooms were renovated and closets added, and a recent addition was converted into an artist’s studio. The house was also fully re-wired and provided with new mechanical and plumbing systems. Exterior aluminum siding was removed to reveal the original clapboard siding and the graceful front porch was restored.
